8 Blue Ridge Chefs on the Move for 2022

Despite the uncertainties of 2021, the locally sourced culinary scene is still going strong! Here are 8 Blue Ridge chefs who were on the move in 2021. Some top kitchen talent relocated to fantastic restaurants. And some chefs fulfilled that lifelong dream of opening their own restaurant. Others expanded their offerings to area foodies and even celebrated important first year milestones.

Blue Ridge Sprouts – Root to Table’s Celebration of Community

Blue Ridge Sprouts was Root to Table’s first festival to celebrate our culinary community! Festival goers enjoyed delicious fare and fun filled contests while learning new culinary and gardening skills. Tenth generation West Oaks Farm Market played host to hundreds of locals and Valley visitors. And a teenage chef, with a little help from a seasoned pro, took the title of “Sprout to Finish Cheftarian.”

“It’s hard to know what’s in your community
until you attend an event like this.”

What It’s About

Root to Table is the pinnacle for food lovers in the Shenandoah Valley. What started out as a way for our chefs and farmers to express their devotion to sustainable cooking, Root to Table has become a region-wide celebrated statement and event. Unlike the average Farm to Table dinner, Root to Table focuses on Appalachian history, culture, and community. The Root to Table series has expanded from one event in 2017, to ten events in 2019!
